A bassinette is a bed for newborn babies, from birth to about four months. It is small and snug, providing the “cocoon” environment that babies find comforting.
Bassinettes come in two varieties, a sturdy cradle, and a more portable type of bassinette, also known as a baby “Moses Basket”.
Moses baskets are practical in that they can keep you baby comfortable and close at hand. You can move the baby’s sleeping quarters around the house, or bring the Moses basket with you when visiting or travelling for that home-away-from-home comfort.
Although the Moses Baskets are easily portable so baby can always be close, carrying baby in the basket is not recommended for baby’s safety. The Moses basket is suitable for babies from newborn till about 4 months - or when baby turns over.
