My kids have loved calendars since preschool. Although they couldn’t write or read, they used to mark the dates they were going to preschool, birthday parties and special dates (like when Santa is coming) with stickers. Of course, the mostly loved them because of pictures of their favorite characters or animals.
For preschool to elementary school kids, hanging calendars work best. However, they don’t have to be the large size; smaller calendars will work just as well.
Here are some suggestions for preschool to elementary school kids. For most enjoyment, choose a character or animal that the boy or girl loves most.

A cool pen that will attach to the calendar will be greatly appreciated. Think over the top and fun. If the calendar does not come with stickers, then you may want to consider adding small stickers (so they fit on the calendar) to the gift package.
