OK. So I have to share more on the topic of kid bedding, especially as it relates to me — a European mom finding suitable kid bedding in USA / Canada.
While there are a number of beautiful kid bedding lines available both in the stores, and on-line, these bedding sets may not work for everyone. In our case, we had some specific criteria that made the search a little more difficult.
» We were looking for gorgeous bedding with unique, but kid friendly themes that would work with our kids’ newly decorated bedrooms.
» We wanted quality percale bedding. A lot of what we found had low thread count or a high poly blend.
» We wanted to buy the kids’ bedding a-la-carte, so we did not want a sheet set, a bed-in-a-bag, or a comforter.
» We needed a duvet cover for the kids bedding.
» The kids’ favorite pillows were imported from Europe, and therefore North American sizes were not a perfect match. Therefore I needed an extra flat sheet so that I could sew an extra large pillowcase.
We looked into getting custom bedding for kids, but that proved to be too expensive, and the fabric selection was not all that inspiring. Instead we found everything we needed at The Company Kids Store. They carry quality bedding for baby, kids and teens in the most unique designs. (Note: the European philosophy for bedding is that the duvet is covered in its own sheet — the duvet cover — and therefore does not need an extra flat sheet. A twin duvet cover measures 60×86″ and should adequately cover a standard twin comforter.)
