FIRST NIGHT New Year’s Eve Family Celebration!

Doors open at 5:30. Event ends at 10pm
The First Night New Year’s Eve Family Celebration is the 3rd annual event sponsored by Panorama Recreation, Peninsula Celebrations Society and Robinson’s Outdoor Store. This great event features music by District of Soul, and numerous activities such as swimming, skating, arts & crafts, bouncy castle and fireworks (9:45pm).
Tickets are available for purchase at Panorama Recreation Centre, as well as Tanner’s Bookstore in Sidney.

Magic of Christmas
The Butchart Gardens, 800 Benvenuto Avenue, Brentwood Bay
Tens of thousands of coloured lights combine with evergreen swags and wreaths of holly and winter berries to line walkways and festoon lamp posts. The ever-popular Twelve Days of Christmas displays are tucked away about The Gardens. From 5 pm to 9 pm in the Piazza you will find lively performances featuring traditional caroling and music. Are you looking forward to skating on the outdoor ice rink? If so, book your 40-minute skate time when you first arrive.
Through this season, kids are welcome to bring a paper snowflake to the Visitor Information Centre and exchange it for a hot chocolate coupon to use in the Coffee Shop.
General Admission to The Gardens is: $20/Adult; $10/Youth; $3/child (5-12). Skating admission: $5/Adults; $4/Youth; Children (12 and under) $3. Skate rentals are available on a first come basis for $2.50 per pair. For more info, visit http://www.butchartgardens.com/

The Victoria Symphony Concerts for Kids: The Mischievous Adventures of the Rascally Rhythm

Ages: The programming is designed to best reach kids aged five to twelve, but many children outside of that group attend and enjoy the concerts. Babes-in-arms (under two years of age) are welcome at Concerts for Kids. This is an activity that the whole family can do together.
In ‘The Mischievous Adventures of the Rascally Rhythm’, Maestra Tania Miller will take the young audiences on a wild and exciting adventure to catch rascally rhythm, a tricky and ever-changing imposter. This is an entertaining and interactive program exploring the rambunctious energy of rhythm.
The Victoria Symphony Concerts for Kids series is a fun, interactive and lively experience for young music-lovers. Prices start from $22.50 for children and $34.50 for adults for a three concert series. Individual tickets are $8-17 for kids, $9-23 for adults. What happens when musical worlds collide? That is the question the conductor poses to the audience in this program tracing the influences of the New World on European orchestral tradition.But there are musical influences afoot of which the conductor is not aware. Two aliens have descended on the concert hall with their own ideas - and inventions - for influencing “Earth Music”. The result is a concert program that brings important musical concepts to life in a sci-fi thriller featuring an outstanding program of American composers and New World music.
